Chris Simpson

Chris attended UC Davis, CA and continued her education at St. Mary’s College, Moraga, earning two teaching credentials and her Master’s in Education. She worked for 20 years in the field of Special Education. She has completed her Level 1 & 2 national certification for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd and is currently a catechist and the Director of Valley of the Sacred Heart Academy. Chris has been an active member of Catholic Advance since 2009. She lives in Dixon, CA with her husband and their three children.

Kelley Evans

Kelley Evans is the husband of Kim Schroeder-Evans and has been living in Dixon since 2002. Born and raised a U.S. Citizen in England, Kelley began studying Latin and Ancient Greek at boarding school at nine years of age, and he attended a private high school run by Benedictine Monks. There he was taught Latin by a monk who is the editor of the Revised New Jerusalem Bible. Kelley obtained his B.A. and M.A. from Oxford University in Ancient Classics and then received his law degree from U.C. Davis in 1990. After several years in private practice and in-house with Sutter Health, Kelley is currently Senior Counsel with the Dignity Health Legal Department (since 2009). On the side, Kelley has been coaching rugby at Davis High School since 1993, having represented Oxford University and Oxfordshire County in rugby when he lived in England. Kelley is now following in his father’s footsteps teaching Latin and is looking forward to introducing his students to the richness of the language, culture and history, with the added significance of Latin as the root for so many other languages.

Fr. Carlos Farfán

Fr. Carlos Farfán was born in Lima, Peru, on August 23, 1966. He was raised in a Catholic family. He is the youngest of three children, and he has two sisters who live with his mother in Peru. Fr. Carlos studied with the Marist brothers until high school and then continued on to study business. Before graduating, he joined the Community of Pro Ecclesia Sancta in 1994. After 10 years of formation, he was ordained a priest on December 11, 2004, in Trujillo, Peru. Within 6 months of his ordination he was sent to Sacramento, CA, together with Fr. Humberto Palomino to start the new foundation of P.E.S. in America. He was assigned to St. Peter Parish in Dixon, where he served for 6 years and became Pastor. He then was sent to St. Paul, Minnesota, to be a spiritual director at the Minor Seminary of St. John Maria Vianney and a Parochial Vicar at St. Mark’s Parish in St. Paul. After two and a half years in Minnesota, he returned to California to open the P.E.S. Formation House in Vacaville, working with the Catholic Advance Movement and Valley of the Sacred Heart Academy. Fr Carlos is currently back in Peru forming future PES priests and continues his work with Valley of the Sacred Heart Academy. Fr. Carlos loves watching and playing soccer and has interests in Moral Theology and Spirituality.


Sister Andriana Ponce

Sister Adriana Ponce grew up in Jalisco, Mexico. After moving to the Sacramento area, she graduated from Dixon High School and studied early childhood education at Woodland Community College for 2 years. She met the members of Pro Ecclesia Sancta at St. Peter's Church and entered as a sister in 2009. After her initial formation, she served in Arequipa, Peru, where she prepared children for First Communion, Confirmation, and taught religion for 5 years at an elementary school. She also led groups in the Catholic Advance Movement. Currently, Sister Adriana is pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in theology. She is grateful to be back in Dixon to teach at Valley of the Sacred Heart and Chesterton Academy and share her love for the Sacred Heart of Jesus.


Terri Heynen

Terri received a bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University in 1986 and completed a master’s degree in Theology at Franciscan University in 2018. Terri served as a munitions officer in the US Army from 1987 to 1991. She was a substitute teacher for two years, 2002-2004, in the Dixon Unified School District. Being a mother of 5 children, Terri has volunteered numerous hours in elementary school classrooms over a twelve-year period. She was a religious education teacher for ten years at St. Peter Church in Dixon. Terri is a Level 1 catechist and is currently teaching Philosophy and History at Chesterton Academy. Terri is an active member of the Catholic Advance Movement.

Jason White

Jason White is a husband and father to five children, the oldest three of which attend VSH Co-op and Catechesis of the Good Shepherd at the Valley of the Sacred Heart Academy. Jason was born in Connecticut and earned his bachelor’s and Ph.D. in chemical engineering before moving with his family to Dixon, CA in 2015 to accept a teaching position at the University of California, Davis in the Department of Chemical Engineering. Prior to his UC Davis position, Jason was an engineering instructor at Manchester Community College in Manchester, CT. In his free time, Jason enjoys playing and watching basketball, football, and baseball. He and his family have been blessed to be a part of the Catholic Advance Movement and Valley of the Sacred Heart Academy, and desire to continue to grow in knowledge and practice of their Catholic faith.
