Current Offerings
Valley of the Sacred Heart offers a full-time Catholic Montessori program for children ages 4-12 years old. The primary program is for children in TK-1st grade and the elementary program is for children in 2nd-6th grade.
Why a Montessori Approach
Dr. Maria Montessori, a devout Catholic and an Italian physician, is best known for the Montessori Method of education. Her academic training enabled her to bring scientific methodology to the research of children. She carefully watched and listened to children, making copious notes on her observations, and then designed materials based on those observations to enhance children’s learning.
Valley of the Sacred Heart has seen the fruits of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, a Montessori approach to faith formation. We believe that combining the Montessori method and Catechesis of the Good Shepherd would be the ideal educational approach to serving the whole child – body, mind, and soul.
Our Vision
Valley of the Sacred Heart Academy has expanded our Montessori program by adding grades each year. We now serve children ages 4-12. In the future, we hope to expand the Montessori program to serve toddlers ages 18 months to 3. As children transition out of the Montessori program in 7th grade, they move to a more traditional classroom setting with a classical approach to education, VSH Junior High. Children will be well prepared for our Chesterton Academy high school.
